What is an EPC
An EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) gives a property an energy rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) and is valid for 10 years. An EPC can also provide recommendations on home improvement measures which, once complete can improve the energy efficiency of the property.
Who needs an EPC?
All landlords and homeowners need an EPC as all domestic properties available to buy or rent require a valid and current EPC. From 2018, it will be illegal to market a property with an energy efficiency rating of less than E. Now is the time to not only think about the energy saving solutions to increase the rating of the property, but also to renew all EPCs that were conducted in 2007 when they were introduced. Therefore, please check your EPCs for the expiration date and current energy rating. Should you find that the EPC has expired and/or below the recommended energy rating, please contact us to make an appointment with one of our qualified DEA’s to carry out a full assessment.
Our energy improvement service is set up to help agents and landlords meet their energy rating obligations and to take advantage of the various other benefits to be enjoyed.
We carry out a wide range of energy saving improvements to residential properties and can install loft, cavity and new boilers free to all qualifying properties. There are many other types of energy performance improvements we can make that will cost you or your tenants very little or nothing at all.
All EPCs are registered with Landmark and available for free download on the EPC register. Our admin team however, send confirmation and updates of each assessment attached with a pdf copy of the EPC for your reference and convenience.
Our in-house team of experienced Domestic Energy Assessors (DEA’s) work with you to understand your specific needs and requirements. Once your portfolio has been accepted by DEA’s, we work to set timescales to conduct the assessments, upload the data and produce the reports. We cover all areas in London.
We offer our complete service at £35 per property. Prices vary on the location of the assessment.
We are registered with the ICO and so are sensitive to the concerns you will naturally have as a landlord to protect your data. Our Data Protection Charter provides assurances that no one will see your private data besides Eco Target. The fact that we employ our own in-house assessors and installers means that we are able to maintain high levels of quality and privacy. Once the work has been completed your data will be securely destroyed.
Having the in-depth knowledge of not just EPCs, but the actual improvement measures that are recommended within, we are able to recognise and identify inefficient properties without delay. The benefit of this is that although we will enter your property to conduct an EPC, we however, will give the property a complete and thorough health check. Should we find that the property is currently inefficient and qualifies for an improvement measure under the ECO2t funding, we will get this done for you too at your approval. In this instance, we will provide the EPC at no cost for you.
